VPP scam – beware of Keith Nolan on autotrader.ca (bank account details included)

I didn’t send this scammer any funds, but the car was listed on auto trader.ca.  Funny enough two days later a Subaru Forester was listed for exactly the same price and again without a phone number. When contacted via autotrader, I got another email from dear old Keith.

Here is the email header:

Notice that the from and replay to addresses are not different and are not ebay.com

How to make the payment
Transfer the funds to the designated account listed below.
Send a fax at +1 (206) 388-4975 with the payment receipt. We will confirm the payment and authorize the Seller to ship the vehicle.
Once the vehicle is received, the Buyer has 5 days to inspect it. After the inspection period is over, the Buyer will contact us with the result of the inspection:
* If the Buyer accepts the vehicle, the transaction is closed and feedback can be left.
* If the Buyer rejects it, the vehicle will be shipped back at Seller’s expenses and the payment will be returned to the Buyer.
Important Notice
For security reasons please DO NOT release the payment details to the Seller or any other unauthorized person.

When payment is received, it will be verified and secured into a non-interest bearing trust account. Payment verification process usually takes less than 48 hours. After payment is secured, the Seller is authorized to ship vehicle. The Seller has 5 business days to send the Buyer and eBay Motors Customer Support the tracking number of the shipment. If no tracking number is provided, a full refund is immediately sent to the Buyer.
The Buyer receives the vehicle and has 5 business days to inspect it. If it is complete and as described, the Buyer should accept the vehicle. If he refuses the vehicle, the Seller will be responsible of shipping back the vehicle.
After the inspection period is over, the Buyer must contact eBay Motors Customer Support with the result of the inspection. If the Buyer refuses the vehicle, the refund will be sent to the Buyer. If the vehicle is accepted, eBay Motors Financial Department submits the payment directly to the Seller within 3 business days.
 Vehicle Purchase Protection Overview
The following types of fraud and material misrepresentation are covered:
Paying for a vehicle and never receiving it;
Sending a deposit for a vehicle and never receiving the vehicle;
Paying for and receiving a vehicle:
that was a stolen vehicle at the time of the transaction;
with an undisclosed or unknown lien against its title;
of a make and/or model that is different than what was described in the seller’s listing;
without receiving the title for that vehicle from the seller, if it is impossible for you to obtain a title from the appropriate Department of Motor Vehicles;
whose title is subject to an undisclosed salvage, rebuilt/rebuildable, unrebuildable, reconstructed, scrapped/destroyed, junk, lemon, manufacturer buyback, or water damage title brand at the time of the sale;
with a model year that is different than the model year described in the seller’s listing;
with an odometer reading that is different than the odometer reading described in the seller’s listing.
