Exactly the same content as the 2004 Nissan scam reported on this site: a divorcee selling her car through “eBay Buyer Protection”- not the real thing – directs claims the buyer needs to use MoneyPak to pay seller and that ebay will hold the car until payment is received, etc.). In this case the name of the seller is different – this time “Kelly Linder” from Burlington,VT – 802-242-0452. A family I know was swindled out of $2250 and asked for my help. I believe that MoneyPak is in cahoots with the scammers, or at least they are aware of the scam and choose not to do anything about it. I called MoneyPak twice to try to track down who actually got the money after the family gave the MoneyPak i.d. codes to the fraudsters. They started to take down the information – they do not have a uniform dispute process- but (coincidentally), each time my call was cut off before the gentleman who took it could tell me what the next step was…
