Here is the email I received after inquiring about a Toyota Tacoma on Craigslist. It lines up with other scam posts:
Hi ,
Sorry for delay,my name is Victoria, happy to see you are interested in my 2005 Tacoma SR5.Let me give you a few details about it. Really good shape, never had any problems with it, no scratches or dents, Non-smoker,82,585 Mileage, automatic transmission,V6 4.0L,VIN:5TEMU52N65Z098597, the title is clear in my name.
The price was reduced at $2,000.Photos available here:http://s1378.photobucket.com/user/victoriamitchell432/library/
I’m selling it so low due the fact that my medical team will deploy back to Afghanistan on April 10th for 1 year contract and its not worth keeping insurance and paying storage fees for 1 year so there’s no use on keeping it,therefore I need a fast and reliable buyer. If you have any other questions, please feel free to ask.
Sincerely,
Senior Medic Sgt. Victoria Mitchell
After responding that I would like to come see it, here is what I received as a reply:
Hi again,
I will do my best to walk you through the process. As I told you in my first email, my medical team will deploy back to Afghanistan. Right now I’m at Nevada Army National Guard. I am only allowed to check my email. We have to stick to email for now.I advertised it on other states also to get more exposure and sell it faster. The vehicle is here with me at the base and the delivery process will be managed by me, ready to be delivered to its future new owner. The deal is handled by eBay so I don’t have much to do about it. I think I can have it there at your home address in 2-3 days. In addition, you get 5 days to try it out before buying it, and if you don’t like it, you can send it back at my expense. For more info on how it works, I can ask eBay to send you an email with more details on how to buy it. They will contact you shortly, as soon as have your personal details. If you would like to receive the email from eBay Motors with all the transaction information, please reply with your whole name, address and phone # and they will contact you right away.
Please get back to me as soon as possible.
Thanks!
My response:
“Victoria”,
Your intentions are to scam, plain and simple. I am praying right now that your scheme will be brought to ruin. Proverbs 20:17 says “stolen bread tastes sweet, but it turns to gravel in the mouth”. Your lying and cheating will not prosper. Your pockets will have holes in them and your investments will crumble. Your money gained by deception will not buy you peace, joy or contentment. Repent before the Lord and He will forgive you. Give this up and make an honest living with the gifts and talents God has placed in your life. Only then will you find true happiness and ridiculous prosperity. Christ died for you and loves you.
Praying for you.
