I received this upon inquiring about a used 2004 Nissan Maxims SE on Craigslist in the Inland Empire division. I was looking for a used vehicle to replace my Ford Explorer which is no longer running due to transmission going out . At the time I was pretty much a Craigslist noobie but after some common sense and research I now feel I have a pretty good grasp on how to spot the scammers . They try to draw you in by posting an almost ” to good to be true ” photo of a used vehicle and some made up story about why this is the perfect used automobile for you. Once you fall for it and send a message inquiring about purchasing this pretty much imaginary vehicle they promptly send you a reply telling you for sake of convenience that we will be using Amazon payments if you choose to purchase the vehicle and usually some made up sob story to sucker us gullible consusers into their scam. Well don’t fall for it ! I’ve included the actual response I received upon inquiring about a used 2004 Nissan Maxims in Craigslist ( Inland Empire ) online website. This is it :
Brittany Lancaster ( is the name this scammers used )
hi! my 2004 Nissan Maxima SE is still for sale! is automatic, without mechanical problems, it has not been involved in an accident and maintenance has been carried out at regular intervals. It also has a clean title,61K miles, and 3.5L engine V6.
I sell it because my boy of 24 died 2 months ago in a car accident, a drunk driver hit him and his fiance. he was with fiance’s car coming to our home at his little brother birthday. it was my son’s first car and brings me bad memories and it is for this reason that I sell so cheap ($1,500).
I travel a lot with my work, and that’s why i ve decided to sell using Online Services of Amazon. they would protect both us and also gives you 10 days of inspection. all the documents and title will be arriving at your address at the same time as the vehicle in 3 days. shipping is also PAID by me so it doesn’t worry about.
If you are interested let me know, Brittany!

I hope this helps prevent others from being suckered into this scam. I guess the old saying is true ” If it looks too good to be true …..then buyer beware !” Good luck and watch out for scams.
