Recently I have not only connected with one of the famous Craigslist scams regarding a vehicle and Ebay, but I have also found way to find and detect these scams.

1. There is never a location, neither in the field or google maps.
2. The car will always look very new.
3. There is always a “—“, “***”, or missing space in the title. (e.g. Carfor sale)
4. The email address is always the same with different characters.
5. There is always a direct @gmail address to bypass the Craigslist forwarding system.

Examples:
kellywilson064@gmail.com
juliacoates828@gmail.com
katherine1974williams@gmail.com
nicoled792@gmail.com

6. The details also (most often) include spelling errors, grammar errors, or missing spaces.
8. Searching Craigslist with the keyword “gmail” will most times pull up all of these ads from the scammers. On average, (in New England anyway), there are 3+ per state. There could be more.
9. Repeated ads are often found with the same picture but different title or description in the surrounding areas.
10. There is always a request for information, without submitting your information you will never see true results.
11. There is always a third party transaction based request from the scam artist, most often Ebay.

These ads range from cars to motorcycles, and even RV’s listed for 20k+. All of the ads have the same style. One way you can implement and test theories is to take the title of an ad to another state and search it there. I found a Honda Goldwing listed by a scam artist, several posts in one state. So I went to another state, several states away, and type in “gmail goldwing” and sure enough I encountered the same ads.

Everyone be safe and smart! If it does not feel right, then it is NOT RIGHT. Trust your gut.

I also got one from the lady in Nevada getting ready to deport to Afghanistan and selling her Honda CRV complete with many pictures. She is having ebay handle it. These people are many out there. If not LOCAL don’t go there.

This person (I say person because you never know if a scam artist is a male or female despite what they tell you), anyways… I am trying to buy a car and I should of known it was too good to be true because the price was awesome! Any ways he/she gave me this sob story about her son dying and it was his car and the car brought back bad memories so he/she wanted to get rid of it. Thank God I have a good friend of mine that went to Google and typed in “Vanesa Thomas” and a scam site pulled up. I love Google! Anyways, I was saved by my friend and I didn’t get scammed- It’s amazing what Google can do! Be careful because there are bad people in this world that just want hard working peoples money because they are too uneducated to make their own money but smart enough to move around on the computer well enough to scam people.

I left the car in eBay’s storage facility number 11 in Hebron, Nebraska to handle the sale therefore the shipping, for have it delivered at your door will be handled by eBay, it is already paid off so you won’t have to pay any extra charges.

Found this 2009 Bass Tracker on graigs list. E-mailed inquiry to Sgt.Steve Peterson in Alabama At Maxwell Air Force Base.had this boat for sale for $2000 said he getting to be deployed to Afganistan and wanted to sell boat. I was on my way to purchase Green Dot Money Packs for $2500 and a friend called me and said deal was to good to be true stop. Got e-mail from Ebay financial with invoice wanting to fax Money Pack #’s so shipment can get going. Have got another e-mail from Sgt. Steve Peterson wanting to know about payment. Thank God for my friend calling me and stopping me. Wish there was someway to catch this piece of s–t. Also got e-mail from a Scott Davis at Ebay Financial telling me how Steve has made purchases from them and not to worry this is a safe and secure guy to deal with.UNBELIEVABLE

Although not exactly certain if this person is running a scam. After reading various articles on this site, it does appear to be a scam. Thank God I have enough common sense not to give in to such things and always do my due diligence prior to consummating any deals online. But here is how the email read from this lady to me after I expressed an interest in knowing more about this vehicle.
