This ad is obviously a scam given the year and price advertised. We live in California and our home phone number was used for

contact. We have received calls between the hours of 6:00am to 10:00pm from as far away as New York, Colorado, Minnesota,

Los Angeles, Dallas, Idaho,  Las Vegas , and -Oklahoma to name a few.

We have notified Craigslist, but the calls keep on coming. It appears that their entire Data base around the country has

been comprimised.

Craigslist Nission Maxima 2005 Ad $2800.00-$3000.00

Says she/he whoever it is has a 2005 Acura for 2300. That their is a third party Amazon Payments that will hold the money until the car is delivered and accepted. Instructs the buyer to send a money transfer through Western Union to an “agent” Andrew Manners. Very elaborate scam, uses Amazon logo and “page”. There is no car! The “agent” picks up the transfer in Baton Rouge, LA  but there is an email amazon-payments@purchase-finance.com and a “fax” number 1-312-945-7384 that is a number in Chicago Il.  This person even sent me a picture of a passport bearing her “name, date of birth” etc.  I wonder who that is in that passport and if that person is safe? I believe it is a federal crime to hold a fake passport. I can not believe the measures people will go to and the creativity they will put into scamming individuals out of money. If they would just put half of that effort into a real job….oh but that would mean real work. I do hope these individuals are caught and have to face those they have scammed from, one can only hope.

This is the worst car dealership we ever visited.

Here is our story. Ultimate Automobiles (aka Motorsport) sold us a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid which had major problems; however, they failed to inform us of these problems when we bought the car. Before we bought the car, all the lights on the dashboard were on, including engine light, brake light, IMA light, maintenance light, SRS light (for airbag). They told us it would not cost too much to get all these issues repaired, just around several hundred dollars. We then paid a deposit on April 20 to buy the car.

On April 22 dealer Ultimate Automobiles put a state inspection sticker on the car which indicated the car had passed the state inspection for Texas. Then we paid for the rest of the car in cash on April 22 and signed the agreement that we are aware of the car’s condition and would be responsible for the repair costs by ourselves.

But we were not aware at that time that the car would not pass the state inspection if all the lights are on, especially the engine light. Then we drove the car back home with all the lights on on the dashboard. We parked the car at home until April 27, when we sent the car to a Honda dealer to do a full inspection of the car and asked how much it would be to get all the things repaired caused by all the lights on. After their inspection, the Honda dealer give us an estimate on May 1 with an inspection report saying it would cost more than 8,000 dollars to get the car repaired!!! This was more than the price we had paid for the car itself.

The Honda dealer and we are all wondering how Ultimate Automobiles got the state inspection passed with all the lights on, especially the engine light. We asked Ultimate Automobiles to take back the car, but they refused and would not answer our phone calls, which is a big red flag.

Yes, we signed the agreement with Ultimate Automobiles that we will be responsible for the car repair costs, but were told we only needed several hundreds dollars! Moreover, from the beginning a dealer should not sell the car to us or to anybody with all the lights on especially the engine light, and the car should not have passed the state inspection.

We believe that KELLY LITTLEJOHN and JOE, the manager, are involved in a scam. We are filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the Department of Public Safety and are considering taking legal action.

Later, after doing research online, we found out that other customers were cheated by this car dealership.

SWIFFT IN 130000

I hope no one falls for this scam. I found this guy through cars.com website as I was looking for an Audi A5. His car was definitely a good deal and of course it was too good to be true. He was selling a sob story of how he needed  the money and that was the reason he priced his car to sell quickly and was only selling to those who did not need a loan for the car. He insisted on using Amazon Payment as that was the safest method for both parties.

The email came from checkout@amazon-financial-payment.com which is not an Amazon.com site. It looked very much like it however none of the help links ever direct you back to Amazon.com.

This guy is a beginner and cannot even get his story straight. I really hope he does not succeed in scamming anyone here.

Hi everyone my prayers go out to all: I applied for a caregiver position. Paul Fountain said he needed a caregiver for 76 year old mom Jessica Fountain. She has 2 homes one in Redding and one in Central L.A. (later he said Arcadia). He hired me within a couple emails. I sent him my resume and references. I called my references and they hadn’t heard from him. Then my previous employer said his emails sounded like he was asian.

Paul Fountain said he needed me to pick up groceries and sheets white king sz, veges, fruits, (wheat corn?)/medicated soap Tetmosal, towels in pink! He would send me a check and he needed me to handle paying for wheelchair from E Bay. I would need to pick him and mom up from airport and then we would drive to her house she supposedly had cerebral palsy and had a stroke 2 years ago. He would pay me $19.00 an hour M-F 9-4pm. They would get a driver for going places and she had a housekeeper for after 5pm. He said I could bring a friend or relative to her house during the day.

Yes there were a lot of flags and I am in a position where I really need a job and this was like a dream come true. My last client and her family were amazing and really treated me well. I thought there are more good people in the world so at first I was trusting. But that little voice told me to beware. I googled scams on craiglist and found this place. One of the letters someone left here is exactly verbatim what Paul wrote to me. He did call me twice and this am I called him, it went to a google msg that said it would try to put me thru.

Well I hope everyone finds a good legitimate job.

Claims she lost her son and husband in a drunk driving accident and needs to get rid of her child’s car because it brings back to many painful memories. I am in Indiana and she has posted this in the Kokomo IN area but the vehicle is located (supposedly) in Boynton Beach Florida and her phone number area code is 610 which is an area code in Pennsylvania. Another listing has her area code 856 which is in New Jersey! People need to be warned before they are scammed!

This is how the scam works. Often posts are on Craigslist Apt rentals. This guy was under the name Adam Steinmetz. Probably does this under a whole bunch of aliases not sure but here is one. Also He will reply very fast when you fill out the application asking for money before sending the keys and documentation for the place for rent and says that He is a missionary over in West Africa.

As I’ve told you, at this moment I am in Alaska in a military base. I do a special training program each day and I am not allowed to get out of the unit or call whenever I want. The reason I’m selling this vehicle way below market value, is because I would like to help ease the burden of my sisters medical expenses, which she has acquired due to a serious illness.
